Rome- Day 2

Day 2 of Rome was spent visiting the Borghese Gardens and Gallery. This was the most fun and fascinating museum I went to so far (not saying that the others were bad, but this was had some scandal behind it). The guy who built it was a cardinal and the nephew of a Pope, so he used his influence and all his money to buy up art. Some of the art was stolen...from churches, others the artists were threatened with imprisonment if they didn't create art for the gallery. The sculptures by Bellini were amazing. That evening, we grabbed some mozzarella, red peppers, bread and a bottle of wine to sit on the Spanish Steps to people watch. We had a fun time watching peddlers try to swindle tourists into buying roses.
