Preschool Water Play Day

Today Makaela had a water play day. Since I had a furlough day, I volunteered to help out at her school that morning. When I got there, she was so upset she had gotten wet (she is a bit OCD with her clothing getting wet or dirty). After I promised her I had dry clothes for her to change into, she joined the rest of her friends jumping in and out of the little pools and playing in the water. I have to admit, it was chaos, but all the kids enjoyed it thoroughly.

Snacktime at preschool- Kaela with her friends

Makaela was so tired after we picked her up, she didn't even make it home. We even went to a Chinese restaurant to eat and she slept the entire time. Watching her in the process of passing out was hysterical.

Kokua 2010

This is Makaela's 2nd Kokua Festival. This year she was old enough to appreciate the Keiki Corner and got really into the music. The kids got their own personal Jack Johnson performance (which was so cool), she made a butterfly and a tamborine from recycled material and really jammed out to Jack Shimabukuro's ukulele skills. Her and Gavin enjoyed wrestling around in waiting for the next acts. Unfortunately, she passed out before Jack Johnson took the stage but overall, it was a great family night. Jack is amazing!!

Oceanarium

Today I finished the last of my three comp exams and I was itching to get out of the house. Makaela and Matt have been so good with giving me alone time to work that I was also craving some quality family time. So, the family decided to go out to eat at the Oceanarium, a restaurant that has a two story aquarium as one of its walls. Makaela was thrilled at all the fish that swam by and she actually ate quite a bit (probably trying to draw out dinner as long as she could).

Goodies from Grandma

Makaela was so excited to get a package from Grandma Hammel yesterday. You would think it was Christmas. The package couldn't have come sooner because Makaela just realized that we didn't own Lion King and we needed to go visit "gramma's house" so she could watch it. I couldn't rationalize paying for two plane tickets and a 10 hour flight just to watch the Lion King, so I was quite relieved when a copy of the Lion King was in the package. She was equally excited to see her Dora booty- Dora sunglasses, the Dora movie and Dora panties- really, what other kid gets excited over underwear? Makaela also got a pair of high heeled Ariel shoes. Watching her try to walk in plastic heels was hysterical- both feet pointed in and she was shuffling all over the place. She had a couple of slips and falls, but luckily Leila has been attached to Kaela's hip and helped break the falls. I had to fast forward ten years and immediately I realized I'm not ready for her to hit the teenage years when heels become a reality.

snappy comeback

Today we were loving up on Makaela. I said to her, "You love mama?" and she replied, "Yesh, I love mama". Then it was Matt's turn, "You love daddy?" "Yesh", she said. Then Matt, the ever- competitive male, took it a step further, "Who do you love the most?" Her comeback was priceless, "Makaela!"

"oh gawd"

Makaela has been cracking me up with her new phrases. Her new phrases are "so kwool", "oh gweat (in both the sarcastic way and in the surprised way), but today, we came home to find out that Leila had chewed up her favorite Princess cup. I was expecting tears, but she crossed her arms, put her hand up to her head, and shook her head as she said, "Oh gawd mama, it's broten (broken)".

Happy Easter!

Makaela was so excited this morning to see what the Easter bunny left her. We went to mass and then headed to meet all our friends in Kaneohe. A picnic was planned, but as we started driving, it started raining. We decided to turn around and have everyone at our house. Everyone brought such tasty food and it was a great afternoon afterall. The kids had fun collecting eggs, blowing bubbles and "playing" crochet and the parents relaxed. Bailey really cleaned up too...he followed all the kids around eating their left over candy and literally cleaning up the kids.

Tonight Mom took a break from writing her comps to color eggs with Kaela and Dad. This was the first time Makaela has ever colored eggs, so it was a bit interesting. She tried to drink the "pink water"- that was a bit nerve-wracking and she didn't understand why the eggs cracked when she played rough with them.
