Madi's Christening

Madi was christened at Good Shepherd in Long Island, the same church Matt and I got (re)married in and the same church we christened Makaela and Mia.  Madi looked adorable in her christening gown (a last minute purchase on the part of my mom and Aunt Donna).  The priest was a bit difficult to understand and that could be due to his accent and partially due to Madi's incessant crying.  Let's just say, she didn't start her pathway to Catholicism quietly.

My brother Joe, the godfather, and Mia

Mia passed out halfway through the christening- Joe was a good sport about holding her. Candace, Madi's godmother looked on.

We had a party for her back at my parent's house and the kids played all afternoon in the pool.  Family and NY friends showed up as well as Matt's grandma from Kansas and his aunt and cousin from Iowa.

Look how well we coordinated (I had no part in this either)

Mia really enjoyed the cupcake cake

A picture of all the girls- it was great seeing them all play together. The moms are such good friends, I hope this continues to the next generation.

Spending time with Family

While we were in NY, we got to spend some time with family who lives far away.  It was nice catching up with our long distance relatives.
Patty Ann and Uncle Donald (my godfather) from Oregon
We spent some time at the local park where Patty Ann chased the girls and practiced volleyball with them.

She is my little daredevil

Madi enjoyed a nice nap in the park

Aunt Dee from Iowa and great grandma Reva from Kansas
Matt's family from the Midwest got to experience Long Island for the first time- Montauk, North Shore (of LI) and real NY pizza.  I think they are fans.  Mia would have eaten pizza for every meal if we let her (takes after mom :-)

Madi's Impromtu Photo Shoot

Having to stop at Kristin's house during out trip was definitely an added perk because Kristin is a great photographer, and she decided to snap a few shots of Madi.  We had an impromptu almost 6 month photo shoot.

I am envious of her eyelashes.

This picture is priceless because this is our life- I go through two- three shirts a day and Madi...who knows.

Her smile can light up a room

Our trek to NY

Matt had found cheap airline tickets so he thought it would be best to have me and the three girls fly up to NY instead of driving with him.  We thought 4 hours of cooped up chaos would be better than the 20 hours in a  car.  Matt dropped us off at the airport early because he had to go to work.  I procrastinated and let the girls wander all over the airport before heading to the gate.  Once we got to the gate we found out our flight was delayed. An hour later, our flight was canceled.  We were booked out of another flight at 6pm but we would have a layover.  Luckily, Jacksonville airport has a USO, so we went there to hang out. The girls got snacks and played on the computers.  Mia was potty training so I was glad the USO was near the restrooms because I had to pack the girls up and bring them back and forth to the potty at least 6 times. When Mia has to poop, she keeps going back and forth.  By the time she finally did, she ran out shouting, "I pooped, I pooped" and the skycaps were congratulating her.  THen we headed through security for the second time and found out our plane was delayed yet again.  We would end up missing our connection at this point.  I didn't mind being stranded in JAX because matt could pick us up after his shift, but being stuck in Charlotte NC was a whole different story.  We got rebooked on a flight to Newark and my friend Kristin graciously agreed to pick us up and let us stay with her.
The girls were so good and tried to occupy themselves.  Mia was exhausted though and I found her curled up in the fetal position next to me while I was standing in line.

The trip to Kristin's house was an added bonus.  The girls had a great time playing until my mom picked us up (she was driving up the coast and through NJ that day).  It was so nice watching the girls play- I hope their friendships will be just as close and mine and Kristin's are some day.

Loose Teeth and Fairies

Makaela came home from a playdate with a severely loose tooth.  It was kind of odd since here teeth weren't wiggly at all.  A day later, we were at our neighbors house playing and Makaela holds up her tooth and said, "Look mom- my tooth fell out"- just like that, no blood, no crying, no drama (so highly unlike her).  Luckily I was able to find the toothfairy pillow we had (it was stored because I didn't think we would need it so soon) and Makaela got her first present from the toothfairy- a whopping one dollar.  (Apparently, there is a toothfairy cap on this block.  The toothfairies have unionized and decided on fair and equal wages since they don't want kids bragging about fairies being more generous than others.)
